The Swords band had been due to kick off their tour at the House of Blues in Houston, Texas, on October 2 but have had to cancel that show and several more gigs across the country.
It’s understood Boland is to undergo surgery on his wrist after he damaged it in what he describes as a “silly accident” — forcing the band to pull the gigs.
“So I hurt myself a few weeks ago in a silly accident. I am working on getting my arm back to full strength as soon as humanly possible to get back on the road,” he wrote on the band’s website.
“Thanks to the lads for their support so far and see you all soon!”
Links to buy tickets at the House of Blues venues in New Orleans, Louisiana, Dallas in Texas and Anaheim and San Diego, California, on October 7, 8, 15 and 17 all state they are “cancelled”.
They have also cancelled the ACL festival in Austin and the Corona festival in Mexico and have rescheduled the tour to start on October 18 in Los Angeles.
“Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, Anaheim, San Diego we will be back soon. We promise!” the band told fans.
Kodaline’s US trek, their third within a year, is scheduled to wrap up at New York’s Terminal 5 on November 7.
Earlier this year the band were watched by more than 20 million viewers on American Idol where they performed All I Want.
The show’s high profile helped propel their debut Irish No 1 album, In A Perfect World to No 89 in the Billboard chart.
